Collaborating with Enel, Valtecne has designed and produced the “Snow Measurement Tube”.
The “Enel-Valtecne” Snow Measurement Tube model is derived from the CN1 and CN2 models, as designed by the Commisione Nevi del Comitato Glagiologico Italiano (Snow Commission of the Italian Glaciological Committee) and the Ufficio Idrografico del Magistrato delle Acque di Venezia (Hydrographic Office of the Magistrate to the Waters of Venice) in the 50s and 60s.
The company heard the requirements that the field experts gave in order to renew and innovate an essential instrument.
The eventual creation is currently used to estimate the amount of water contained in a layer of accumulated snow, measured according to height and density of sample taken by the tube. The objective is to create an international standard of measurement in order to adequately compare results.
